Nitroethane was one of these chemicals which is why unlike back in the days where you could buy a ton of this shit no questions asked from such a chemical supplier even those sources don't have it anymore.

Personally, I find it pretty impressive that industrial production of this compound is so tightly closed yet clandestine chemists synthesize this compound with little to no resources in comparison.

The inability to get it is the result of many years of international war on drugs including the internationally wide nitroethane control and prohibition legislation. There are 17 companies related to the production of Nitroethane from only 5 countries: US, Germany, Spain, China and India.

The-HiveThis is well known, there is a patent out there for a more efficient setup using molten NaNO2 at the base I think in a bell shape enclosure over which hot nitric acid and propane is sprayed, the products vaporizing on the outside of the sealed bell before being condensed at the top.This patent also discloses the fact that random explosions are frequent and significant.Youre also going to have to fractionally distill all the mess atleast once.You also can't fully make use of 3/4 of reaction products like they can in industry. Taking all this into consideration this method is wholly not suited for laboratory or micro-production scale.
